This morning when I took breakfast out to my girls, one of the girls (Gertie) got spooked and ran under the hen house and crouched down. I assumed she thought she heard a hawk or something but I didn't see anything and neither did the other three. What I found most interesting is that while Gertie was crouched under the hen house, it sounded like she was growling. Has anyone else witnessed this type of behavior? (specifically the growling sound)

Silkies hatching today!! So far 1 cuckoo and 1 black. Three more to go and they are all pipped.

So my Guinea hen was hit & killed this am. Yes !!! the same hen that was hit and lived yesterday.

Apparently she did not learn to stay out of the road.
DD buried her out back.

the rest of the crazy Guineas stay out of the road.

I am planning to add a huge chicken yard to my barn to keep the ducks & geese from totally destroying our gardens. Should also keep most of the chickens in. I do not plan on covering it. I know it will not keep the Guineas in.

The kids are watching "The Blair Witch Project"......... Great !! Now they won't go outside at dark by themselves

They are suddenly into scary movies.

I won't be surprised to wake up with one or another sleeping on the floor of my room.
