we have 16* with wind choill around 0 I am dreading going out to let everyone out, I haven't heard a peep out of the roosters yet.

NH, one thing to remember about wormers: some (most?) are a type of poison. The trick is to kill the worms and leave the host healthy. For this reason, worming (or, rather, treating for worms) is hard on the host.

Susan was feeling bad. You gave her a dose of wormer. Expect her to feel yucky for a few days because of the medicine. You could think of it as a neccessary evil. Lots of rest and good diet is what Susan needs. Sounds like you are taking good care of her.

I personally think chickens like baths once they get used to the idea. My oldest daughter, Cassie, (the chicken "hater") was surprised one of our roosters kept falling asleep in the kitchen sink! Red would sink down in the water and Cassie would lift his head. Red was totally relaxed. He had been in a fight and was covered in mud. I washed and rinsed him five or six times just to get the water not "filthy" when we were done. Cassie was afraid I was going to drown him was the main reason I stopped. He was Suave strawberry fresh when I got done. Josie (chicken lover) towel and blow dried the rooster. I trimmed his spurs while they were still soft from his long soak. We rubbed olive oil on his feet and legs. Hubby joked the rooster was getting the full spa treatment.

In my experience, hens don't like the attention as much as roosters do. It's probably a boy/girl thing. If your daughter was older you could wash the chicken together. She might be a little young to play in the bathtub in her bathing suit while you wash the hen in a bucket also in the tub. If it was warm weather and you didn't have a pregnant belly, I would suggest you give it a try. Btw, that is a good method to wash a little baby with an older toddler at the same time. I put the baby tub in my regular tub, both with warm water. The water temperature stayed more stable and the two children got washed at the same time.
