oh yes the veggie crates, they're like 12-18" wide and long, I have used those to transport and sell birds! I can get them from the local produce stand. Thanks for thinking of me Luke! :) You should definitely use those, they make great carriers.

Colie.... I have a Splash Trio for sale.. also have 2 Splash chicks.

I am heading out to check for eggs, I will bring a pencil & paper and count

Yeah, I used to work at our local produce shop so I get lots of throw away stuff for my birds from there.
I also talked to the produce manager at my harris teeter and now he's saving me all the trim and stuff that doesn't look good enough for display. It's funny because I pick thru the boxes before the chickens get them

Thanks DT, I also like the rescipe for broiled squash/onions. will try that one too. Now if you have a really good from scratch corn bread rescipe you'd like to share.

Thanks for the link! I will show this to hubby. I wonder if they have any red cedar long enough to use as fence posts for a run area for the dog?! What a deal, and I don't mind driving to Sanford.

Yup I'm planning to make a run out there and get as much pine as I can and a bundle of cedar. Can't beat the price, and they have sawn lumber as well, so even if you can't use everything for 'pretty' things, you can burn it, play with it, use it as exterior shingle siding and let it get that 'aged' look to it for the rustic folks.

Counted coop by coop...........
