North Carolina

Morning all. Very cute pictures of chicks, duck and other baby crittters. It makes me want to make a bigger bator and insist that I get the pregant mare we just took in. I do have a large catering type cooler on the deck that has just been sitting for 2 years... I would get into so much trouble being able to hatch bigger batches of chicks.

My girls have FINALLY started laying well and I have so many eggs that REALLY need to incubate and hatch into cute fuzzy butts....

I've got lav split eggs in the bator myself!

Hoping to bring Biggie out at Morganton, he has had one long molt this winter.

I am SO SAD!! I just received an email from Reedy Fork Farms - where I order my feed from and they are no longer delivering to individuals. The only way I can order feed from them and pick it up is to order 40 bags...40 BAGS!! They said we now have to purchase their feed from the local feed stores and yet the ONLY one in Raleigh that sells their feed does not sell the feed I need for my daughter!!

If any of my wonderful BYC'ers out there know where I can get some soy-free (due to severe allergies) chicken feed (preferably organic, but at this point we might take anything)...please let me know!! To think I drove over an hour each way to pick up feed from the drop off location for the past YEAR, putting up with their continued price increases and their delivery fees because it was the ONE place I could go to get feed that wouldn't "kill" my daughter!!

Thank you for letting me vent everyone!! I am just so disappointed/beside myself. On a side note...has anyone seen SCM lately??

This tells their story:

I have a hard to place gelding right now and my husband has put his foot down about more I used to have about 4 or 5 fosters at a time but never seemed to be the one to get a mare in foal even though I'm the foster coordinator. I usually end up with the hard to place horses because I'm not looking to have a riding horse. they get a chance to be a horse for a while and ease into trusting people before they get intensive handling. I don't put time table on them.

I can just wish

Won't the store in Raleigh order it for you? I can be picky about feed and have worked in the past with diferrent feed store to get what I wanted. Most of the independant stores should be very willing to work with you especially if you pay up front the first few times or find out what day they place their order and call and tell them how many bags you need. Over the years I have had stores end up carrying the feed they order for me when other people see it waiting for me want some too.

Just sad sad sad that people do this to such majestic creatures.

We raise APHA horses and just couldn't imagine ours ending up like that. It would be hard for me to foster, I wouldn't want to let them go.

Such a sad story!! They make me want to foster...if we only had the proper set up!!

I hope she and the others rescued get a chance to be beloved pets who will be pampered the rest of their lives!! How I hate to see such cruelty!!

Thank you for the advice for the feed. I will call the store and ask them if they can/will carry/order the bags for us!! Thank you so much!! At least now I don't have to drive 2 hours round trip to get the feed, right?!? LOL

Greenacre, so sad :( I can't believe how people can let animals suffer like that. If you can't take care of it you don't need it, shouldn't get it, and shouldn't keep it. *shakes head*

Does anyone have any burlap sacks/potato sacks? If you do please PM me, I'm willing to buy or trade possibly for them. :)
