to all the new folks. I'm not keeping up well, but this is the nicest forum you'll ever find, so I hope you all enjoy it here.

One chick out in the incubator, and I can see four pipped eggs. We'll see what we get. The one that's out is another buff.

I keep getting buffs. Maybe it's a sign not to get rid of the buffs...but I only have good room for three groups. If I keep the BCMs, the lavender Orps and the Blue/Black/Splash Orps...where would I put the buffs? I suppose we can convert another sheep shed and turn over another pasture to chickens, but I've only got one more I can do that to, and I was really hoping to do another breed down the road...like Brahmas. Decisions, decisions!

Hubby wants me to incubate the bantam eggs, so if neither of the bantams goes broody they'll go in with the next batch. We'll see how many I have by then. And for those little things, he's going to have to build a brooder box. There's no way they are going to stay where I usually brood chicks! They're going to be the size of crickets or something!

I don't remember him having more than a hint of red when I bought him for you
but in that pic you can see a hint of gold on the end of the hackles.
He is unique!!!!

looking at these pics on DH's computer instead of mine, it does look a little goldish. Guess he was always being too evil for me to notice

Hi to Hollowoakfarm, I live in Lumberton, work in St. Pauls. Glad to see someone close by on the forum!

Hello fellow N. Carolinians. I'm here in the mountains, like several of you. I live in Foscoe. I recently lost my entire adult flock over the course of 2 days to a mysterious predator, but I do have a brooder full of chicks, and an incubator full of eggs. So I'm hoping to go from 0 chickens a couple of weeks ago, to 30-40 chickens in about 2 weeks
