I ended up putting my dog down today. She snapped me and bit me (breaking the skin) when I went to put a leash on her to put her in her crate.

I just can not risk one of my kids. So it has been a bad day all around. Now I just have to stop crying. (She was my dog).

I am so sorry you had to make that decision.

Beth the smallest of Toms babies as tall as mama but not as heavy yet.

I've had my heart set on doing a turkey eventually... but I promise... he'd go the way of the freezer eventually!

Jon, so sorry to hear about your loss. One of our first Cochin hens just dropped dead one day. No marks, no clues, I googled and asked and researched, but never found any answers. There was something called sudden death syndrome.

and yes seems like chickens can and will just drop down dead for no reason at all!

Vfem thats the plan with some of these babies, once they are grown that is. But the first 3 are from Tom, the DH's tom turkey that we had to put up in freezer camp due to spinning his leg out, and they all seem to be hens at the moment. But getting some other babies now so we'll see how it goes.

Today is rocking here... thanks to the rain I was forced to stay inside and whip up some jam and can some potatoes. Then I made some pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches with pan roasted potatoes w/ garlic & rosemary. I even managed to clean up the living room and kitchen. All I have to do is fold laundry and vaccum and I'm good until this weekend when it all needs to be done again! LOL
