North Carolina

im sorry for your terrible news. what is full biosecurity?
Full biosecurity means making sure nothing is transferred from quarentined birds. So, boot covers or separate boots only worn there, seperate feed sources, showering and changing clothing after being in the quarentine pen...even wearing a breathing mask. Anything to control particle transference.

And for everyone...thanks for the support. I just got a call from my vet, too. She also offered her support, and her thanks for me having the birds testing and going through all this. And I've gotten some pms here that just made me want to cry, everyone is so supportive. I really appreciate it. And yes, it could be any of us since the mode of infection is so variable and so common. But I'll do my best to make sure it doesn't spread further from here!

Hubby gets home from his trip today...coming in to chaos. Poor guy.

IRONIC............

I was just coming over here to this thread and something on the New Hampshire thread catches my eye. SICK birds. Same S%$* !!!!

That isn't surprising considering how easily it can be transfered
and the fact that wild birds and animals can and do transfer
it throughout the country.........just one more thing to learn to
live with. "sigh"

......we all know you take very good care of
your animalsand since this can be transmitted so easily,
even by nature, you should not feel bad about it.
We all support you and hope to you are back on track soon.
Anything I can do to help just hollar and I'm there......with booties

This could be ANY of us, we all frequent the same chicken places. With all the people worried about sick birds the above advice is VERY important. Isolate....and in my opinion cull.

(((((HUS)))))!. This is such sad news. Devastating to hear. At least you have the good mind to do what is right. I have no answers to what choice you should do, but I know just from reading your post you will do the right thing.
