Ya'll should have seen us at 8:00 AM... slinging chickens into boxes.

We were still the 3rd person in line and we got to WCA at 9:15 AM... and they don't even start taking chickens until 10:00 AM.

So sorry you have to do this!! Just remember you gave him the best life he could have had!! (Just think how happy he's been with you compared to all those chickens that are in the factory). No words will be adequate, so I will just offer you another BIG hug!!

Those of you suggesting we have rats....wouldn't we see them?!? Would they be able to get in the coop at night when we're all locked up?!? Why wouldn't they "hunt" the broodies sitting on 14+ eggs rather than the maybe 3 (on a good day) that end up in the coop? Most importantly...WHY do we have a barn cat if she's not eating the rats?!? LOL Now what do I do?!?
Thanks, I saw two chicken trucks today and felt so sad for them but Im glad my babies have a good life. His girls will miss him more than I will lol

Today has been eventful. Decided to cull my roo, decided to sell my Muscovy, also for aggression, sold a roo (brings me down to two known roos), and got a free Silkie (shhhh!! my mom doesnt know yet! at least this one is a girl

), Oh and I almost panicked because my ducks wing was weird, but it isnt angel wing so its all good.

And yes, I do believe my roo will be tasty, lord knows he gets treats all the time, but I think it will be a meal I will have to eat with friends so I dont think about it too much. I got too attached to him to not shed a few tears..

Sorry to hear of some having issues with rats

we had them move in one year during a bad
drought and tried the trap thing......they figured
out what it was and avoided the trap
tried shotting them but just too dang many
of them for that to work and most rats are too
big for a cat.....beleive it or not.......soooooo
ended up doing the poison bait deal.........just
made sure to cover the box with a wire cage
that only the rats could get into...........remember
if their head fits in then the rest of the body
will too........same with a snake.....good hunting
