LoL... Who named the cornish? They are just too cute... I think they will soon be mine and not Bennie's....

I think we will have to get our birds tested at the door and we haven't recieved any catalog, nor have we heard anything back about our entry. Hopefully we filled it out right. We sent it in well over a week ago.

The are cuties and pretty friendly, especially for treats. The kids named them.... Bennie can have the LF Cornish, he is un-named.

I really wish that I could have gone to meet you all there at the WCA today. The hubby threatened me with frozen Green House veggies, and that just won't do. I think he was just afraid I would take the big truck and bring it home full. I have more will power than that! He did clean the hen house out and restock it with fresh wheat straw, so I guess I'll keep him. Maybe the hens will be happy and start giving me eggs again soon???

Good morning folks

I hate being almost kinda sick...

.....it seems to hang
in there longer when I am.......you know the type...
sick enough to feel yucky but well enough to somewhat
function. I do hope I didn't share yesterday........sorry
if I did.......I tried to stay back enough to not infect but
I just couldn't miss out on the great company to be had.

Back to work today.......hope the next weekend comes soon

Good morning all from the night shift!

I'm just sitting here until it is time to go home in two more hours. Then off to check on my chicks before my bed calls me. I did get some dried mealworms to give any that want to munch out of my hands today.

I figured that they'd be a good treat for them all for thanksgiving.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes!! I had the BEST birthday present as DD2 slept a consecutive 3 hours last night...up from her usual 1.5hr all night long. I know it's because she is teething and having a rough time of it, but I was getting to the point of being pretty exhausted!! Going grocery shopping (oh joy) and then getting the kitchen ready to start baking for neighbors and friends (taking orders now...LOL). Wednesday - I am hoping - DH has off and we're planning on doing a full clean out/scrub down of the coop.

Dusting question: I bought the mite/lice dust (it said it contained Permithrin) that was recommended by the TSC peeps...they did not have Sevin dust. I was told to put Sevin dust in an old sock and "pat" the chickens down with it. This stuff says to sprinkle on the chickens paying particular attention to the vent areas... um... do I just put the dust on them or should I still use the sock method?!? Is there anything I need to know that might hurt them? I get to practice my chicken catching skills (I'm getting MAD skills, right Alex??

) while DH helps with the dusting. We also bought some DE to put in the corner of their run with some sand (although I heard wood ash is a good duster...anyone ever use that?? I have TONS from our fire place). Should I give them some extra nutrients or anything?? Man, I feel like a total noob all over again. LOL

Sad I missed going to WCA, but I promise...ONE DAY...one day I will make it there and I will bring goodies too!! It's mandatory that I bring "poop" cookies for Beth's kids!! LOL.

Have a great day everyone!! Thank you again!!
