They hatched on or about Oct 27th. No clue if they can be wing sexed, keep me posted on your results with them. My kids told me that they thought you got them...the recognized the box. LOL

Will do! They are pretty and are very friendly with hands being in there.....And I only paid .75 cents a piece!!!!! I may just have to give you some more money for them! LOL

HA.. I know ! I didn't get nothing for nothing but I was not surprised. It is the time of the year to catch great deals not make money. OO well...enjoy them. They are friendly... they have been inside here, flying out of the brooder and everything. LOL

Well I'm glad they came from you and not some of the other peoples birds I've seen......I went to get my feed the other day and they had some birds and I was just at a loss for words. It's sad that some people don't treat em very good.

Awe!! Thank you VERY much!!

I have decided to stop counting the birthdays and so to celebrate today (aside from grocery shopping) I did absolutely nothing but play with Play Dough, Color, play school, play kitchen, play tractors, and oohh and play ball!! LOL Poor thing is already worn out (me too)!! Now, do I make myself a birthday cake or not?? Hmm...I DID resist the Oreo Ice Cream Cake at the store....even though I was drooooooooooling just LOOKING at it!! hehe.

Funny chicken bit: I bought some meal worms to spoil my new birdies and get the youngsters use to big scary people...and... they do NOT like them!! I couldn't get them to eat any at all...now the guineas, the guineas were attacking one another to get to them. I was hoping that my new rooster (I forget what he is...ask DoubleA...LOL) is a bit shy and I wanted to get him a bit more acquainted with me...but nope, I couldn't get near him (too skittish) and that made me really sad.

I am hoping they were just full from the left overs that I fed them!!

Spaghetti & meatballs were a HUGE hit with this crew!! LOL

Beth & RF - thank you so much for your suggestion on dusting!! We're going to "strip" the coop down, bleach the concrete & walls, replace all the bedding and then dust the coop & birds - hoping to kill them all and not have to revisit this any time soon!! Looks like I need to be a bit more proactive and start checking my birds regularly - I was very much a hands off kind of owner...working on fixing that!!

Nh if you burn wood use the ashes for a dust bath area, I use play sand and wood ashes mix all up and put in a big cement mixing tub out of the weather and wala dust bath and mite deterrent.

Was this open bidding or sealed if you don't mind me asking, I mean you know each other and all. seems funny that one had them and the other wanted them but you bidded on them not knowing who they were from.... again, I am a noob to all of this..

‎2 new rescues:

2 days ago Mom brought home a hen from a neighbor. The bird jumped over their fence into the yard of the elderly neighbors Mom and Dad were visiting. Their dog LOVES playing with chickens(NOT IN a GOOD WAY). Mom managed to stop the dog before the chicken was hurt bad. The people that actually own the bird said to just throw it away, no reason to waste time saving a chicken. Yeah, great animal lovers. They have chickens running everywhere that they don't seem to feed. They are freeranging to everyone else's houses and eating what they can find. The are very wild. The little hen is just missing bunches of feathers and has lots of bruising. She is in a 8'x8' pen with food and water. She got an antibiotic capsule to prevent infection and after 2 days she is fine. We are keeping her penned a couple weeks to see if she will stay.

Rescue 2: This morning I heard a commution and ran out thinking something was after a chicken. I found a small hawk and a pigeon tangled up in the netting around the top of Chitter's Flock's Lot. (background)We had pigeons years ago. We let them fly all around. A wild male showed up and ended up becoming the mate to a lone female and one day they left together. They would come back daily to eat. I do not know where they live, but the descendents still come here to eat.(back to the event) When I got to the lot the hawk let go and, thankfully, pulled loose from the netting. I was wondering how I was going to untangle it without getting ripped apart by talons. The pigeon was hanging by a wing and dripping blood. I gently untangled it. It was in extreme shock and unconscious. It's head was bloody, side punctured a couple times, and looked like an eye was gone. I grabbed the "chicken hospital crate"(medium pet carrier) which I keep sterile just in case and my "chicken emergency kit". I cleaned the bird very gently so the wounds could close somewhat. It quit bleeding right away. I placed the bird in the crate to rest and pull through the shock.

This evening it is now standing and walking wobbly. I washed the blood off it's head and manage to open the bad eye. It is NOT gone. The eye looks good. No cloudiness and the pupil reacted to light. The wings are high and tight so they seem fine. It will stay crated a couple days then move to the PVC pen(6x10x8) to get the wings going again. As long as it recovers, I should be able to release it in a week or so when the rest come in to eat.

So happy to hear the pigeon is going to be okay. and hoping the lil hen makes it too.
