I agree with Sunflour here as there is nothing more special than raising your own babies. They are so much easier to bond, warming up to you immediately with you where as started pullet can be afraid of you for sometime and some may never come around. So just keep this in mind.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I agree completely with Sunflour and TwoCrows. Just be sure if you order chicks that you order pullets rather than straight run or you will end up with a bunch of unwanted roosters. Most hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy on sexing, and even with pullet orders (I always order 25 chicks at a time), I almost always get 1 or 2 cockerels.
