I see that this show is coming up in Springfield, Mass., Jan 12-13. Have any of you been? What's it like?

We are looking (possibly) to replace two hens that we lost to predators. Is this a good place to do that? Are chickens sold directly to the public at the show? We are very much amateur backyard chicken owners.

I'm tempted, mainly because I have never been to a big poultry show besides the state fair when I was a kid.

Here's the web site:

I have a BD party to go to and Saturday DD starts swimming lessons!! Figures!! I want to go, too, even though it's about a 4 hour drive.

Congress is a great place to get new birds. They always have lots for sale and they do sell to the public. I will be showing and selling birds at this show. Definately worth it! Good luck in your search

I went last year for the first time. It's fun and there were a lot more chickens than I had seen at the fairs around my house. I didn't think there were many for sale though. Is there a good time to go to buy? I remember we went on the first day fairly early in the a.m. Are there more for sale later?

Usually around mid afternoon on Saturday there will be a lot more in the sale area, as the exhibitors have finished preparing their show birds. Also, if you go down on Sunday toward the end of the show, you can get some great deals.

I sure wish I could have gone, I really wanted to show my Silkies,
I know there will be a lot of good silkies.
I am waiting at home for my Grandbaby to decide to make his grand entrance.
If labor does not start by Friday they are going to induce.

:)

Unless the weather is horrible, I'm hoping to be there tomorrow. Maybe I'll try to make a little BYC pin or something, so we BYC folks can say hello to each other!

Good luck to all the contestants.
