This was the first time my chickens were out in their coop during one hum-dinger of a lightning storm. I was a bit worried about them, but this morning they seem fine, and even excited about the earth being damp. I did find out that I have a leak in roof of the coop, and DH is going to fix that when he gets home from work. Their outside food got wet... will have to figure out a way to protect it. I didn't expect that much rain!
Weather said we had over 2000 lightning strikes last night and into this morning. It was a pretty amazing site! I felt like I was in Dallas again, only our power didn't go off! lol

Southern CA - 2 people killed by lightening strikes - a 4 year old and a 31 year old. 4 others hospitalized for injuries from lightening striks - 119 fires started. THAT was a humdinger of a thunderstorm!!

I saw on the news that we lost a cow up here to a lightning strike! I haven't heard anything about people. (Thank Goodness) My huband wanted to stand outside and watch the show, I told him he didn't have enough insurance and to get his butt back in the house!

Here's a link from our local news station with pics of last nights lightning. It was pretty spectacular.
