Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you finally spoke up & joined us. You've been reading here for a while, so I guess you know there's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what new & interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!
When I had too many eggs I put a sign out by the road. When you have a good collection, you could always find a corner near to you and set up a road side sales station there. Just sell them out of your vehicle. I have a friend here who takes them o town business and just walks in and asks if anyone is interested in buying farm fresh, non GMO, organic eggs. She has no problems selling out. Do this on a regular basis and you can probably build a clientele of regulars.
You do know that unwashed eggs can sit on the counter for months and still be good, right? They only need refrigeration if they've been washed (or the shell damaged). Once refrigerated, they should stay refrigerated.
As for selling chicks, you'd probably be better off to grow them out to a couple of months as you could sell them as started pullets, for more money. Others have given some good ideas as well.
Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me
will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
