I think the point of wrapping them with tin is to prevent the mice from climbing your posts, assuming that you make very gap too small for them to enter the cage, I wouldn't worry about wrapping the legs. Looks like you used treated 4x4's, I put roofing tar on the bottom of my posts to prevent moisture from wicking up the inside of the post.
