Hello,
I'm new here because anything that could have gone wrong since getting chickens 5-6 weeks ago, has. At this point we have six pullets (6 different breeds) and I think they're somewhere between 12-15 weeks but I'm not sure of any of them. The chicks I got were maybe 3 weeks so they would be 8-9 weeks now. I'm down to just one chick and I hate that she's alone. I let her in the large run (over 500sf inside and out) with the bigger girls but she's by herself now. (It was her and another until yesterday because my husband decided to put them all away in the coop together the night before and he next morning one was dead. There wasn't blood or marks but I'm convinced one somehow killed her, which is why I wanted to keep them separated until they were the same size.). I feel so horrible because I know chickens are meant to be together and not alone. Plus I worry about how she'll survive when the time comes to put her in the coop. I found some 8 week old cream leg bars for sale and am thinking about getting 2 to add to he lone chick. They'll be the same age/size but will they then pick on Pippi because they've been together the past 8 weeks? I feel like they'll still be few enough that they'll want to stick together and then as 3 going in with the other 6 they'll have a stronger chance. Any ideas or thoughts?
