Hi all. I posted some weeks ago about my hen that’s just off. I still don’t know what’s wrong with her. Here are some updated photos. The second photo is when I first noticed the problem The day I isolated. The first photo is from this morning about seven weeks later and it is only continuing to grow. Any thoughts on what I should do for my hen? Taking her to the vet is not an option unfortunately. Should she be sacked? She’s still eating okay. I don’t know how old she is but at least 3.

Hey there!
I'm sorry your hen has a problem. That's certainly no fun. :/ I'm practically useless when it comes to giving vet care advice (that's why I tend to not), nor do I know anything-- really--about a lump on chickens, especially, but I will try to help and am going to guess it's a tumor or abscess. I don't know how common it is for chickens to get those, though. And, if it is one of those, don't know how she could be helped for a tumor, especially since it's on the face and you won't take her to the vet. Or, if it is an abscess, you could probably help by taking her to the vet to get it drained. That's all I'm aware of, sorry. :P She's pretty, by the way!
Now, let me call in some experts who can probably give more help/advice. @N F C. @rjohns39. @penny1960. @TwoCrows. @lazy gardener.
Hope you find out what's wrong!
Sincerely, Cara

Sorry about your girl. :hugs

You've tried antibiotics? Tylan? Sinus infections cause swelling around the eye.

If it's not a sinus infection another thing could be a possible ingrown feather? However usually ingrown feathers cause a lot of infection and there might be redness and seeping at the folical hole. Look closely.

Is it in front of the ear? Have you looked inside her ear canal? Something could be stuck in there.

Gosh, I am not sure on this one. These are the things I would consider.

I just looked at your previous thread. The mass on her right face looks like a tumor, especially if it feels firm. I would just watch her and see if she is getting around okay.

You had said you separated her, but has she been back in with her flock lately? Is she still having the wide stance and having trouble getting up to the roost? I would guess that she might be an internal layer, which is common in some older hens. That can cause problems walking, pale comb, fullness in the lower belly, and weight loss. If she is doing okay, I would think about leaving her in the flock. If not, placing her in a dog crate inside the coop with her own food and water, may be best.

please describe the systems bird looks fine
She has a now rather large swelling on the right cheek. She’s had some other issues but I think there are 2 separate things going on with her. She’s had a wide stance and belly fullness for months now. I’ve had her separated in my brooder coop since 2nd week of November.

No, she’s been alone for about 7 weeks now. She can see the other girls but they can’t touch her. I just bought a bag of Epsom salts and I’m hoping to give her a good soak tomorrow and get a good feel of her then.
