Hi all my lovely friends! I have been posting for almost 4 weeks now on my "Pekin" duckling not looking like a Pekin. So, I have been told and have read that Pekin are all white birds. Occasionally with a black spot or 2. Well, my "Pekin" indeed has adult feathers coming in, and they aren't white. They are yellow! Just like his down! and those black spots are coming in grey. I have a grey and yellow duck. WTH? I went to the farm. There were ALL white Pekin ducks and ALL white Embden geese and 1 Chinese goose paired with a Toulous goose. What is up? Yes, these are free range ducks, but it's on a farm. a busy farm with all kinds of other animals and lots of people and children! Hundreds of kids come each day.

Please help, these pictures were just now taken. At 9:00 pm 6/4/14...

His breast feathers are yellow. His bill has dark green coming in and there are patches of grey feathers coming in on his chest. Did anyones Pekin look like this and came out completely white?

Your duck will be splash colored. I wish I had a full bodied photo of one of my ducks. He is white with grey/blue patches, and has a green bill. Yours may turn out similarly. He was hatched from some eggs found next outside, so his parents were wild. My guess is something jumped a fence somewhere, because your duck is not full pekin to my understanding. His spots won't go away.

I knew it! I knew he wasn't full Pekin! But, I"m a complete Noob, so I didn't want to assume something I know very little about! I have been posting about my little duckling for a while now, and I have seen someone post a picture of their Pekin with one black spot. However, mine doesn't have a spot, it's all over!

I can't wait to see what he/she will actually turn out to look like!

It's definitely a Peking but perhaps mixed with a Blue Swede due to the shade of the feathers so far? That's my guess. Hmmm....

I recall this question of yours as i said i would question it being pure and something having come by for a "visit" i have seen the odd pekin with a teeny bit of black as a duckling but it's extremely minor nothing like yours, should be quite pretty! love to see how it matures.
