Hi, if anyone can help, I would appreciate it very much. I have an old chicken who for the last couple days hasn't been able to use her legs, they're just curled up, and is not eating or drinking. I have googled and have come up with the following:
Mareks (but she's very old)
Riboflavin deficiencey (I've been syringing B vitamins down her throat, but she isn't improving)
Botulism (it has been raining, but it is cold here atm)
Her eyes are bright, she has no discharge. She may be fluffed up a bit, it is hard to tell. I have two other older chickens who are fine, and three new chickens (about 10 weeks) who are fine as well. I can't see any injuries on the legs.
Any thoughts? Is it just her time?

How old is old? She can't use her legs or wont and is lethargic? Is she a production layer type bird?

Getting on six years and over is old. It could just be her time. Sure they can live 10 year or so.
If she's a going on three year old production bird they have propensity of internal laying issues around that age.
No I'don't suspect any disease either.

Thanks for replying. She's a production type cross breed, that I took on a couple of years ago when friends didn't want her anymore. She'd be about 5 or 6 I'd say. Hasn't laid any eggs for ages, has just been enjoying retirement. I'm not sure if she can use her legs, they just seem to have no strength. She can move the hip type joint but nothing from the scaly part down.
Her mate that I took on at the same time died a few months ago. Which is why I suspect just old age. That hen lingered long after she should have (I couldn't bring myself to do what was needed) and it was just awful. So, this girl will be taken to the vet soon to get an injection, even though that's awful too. Just wanted to throw a hail mary and see if the experience on here came up with anything I hadn't thought of.
