I have 19 Red Stars - they hatched in May and started laying about a month ago.
Over the past couple of days, I have been finding up to 4 eggs in the middle of the coop not in the nests!
I know the girls are all experienced at laying as I've been getting 19 eggs per day for at least 3 weeks, so I've found this to be a bit odd. There are nests without any eggs in them, so I can't imagine that the nest have all been taken when they are ready to lay.
I know I can't 'make" them lay in the nest, but I'm just curious if this is typical? I had Black Sex Links last year, and other than the "first egg" I always found them in the nests.
