Not an emergency, just weird?

Will get it fixed when my hubby gets home! I gotta he able to adjust it a little, because it gets cold here at nights in the woods where I live, and these guys live in my garage.

Whoa, that is definitely too hot. I would raise the lamp to where it is about 90 in the warmest spot, and cooler on the other end. What is the ambient room temperature, and what is the wattage of the lamp? Heat plates are very good to use for brooders since they are really safe. It depends on how much or often you would be hatching. I have used the Brinsea Ecoglow smallest one, and Premier 1 sells one as well.

Oops... my garage stays about 60 to 65 right now and drops about 10 degrees by the morning, but were having a bit of a heat spell forthe last few days. Normally temps are closer to 55 in here and can drop to 40 at night or lower.

Will definitely be fixing it. The little guys just stay right outside the hot zone and are usually never in the cooler end.

Becareful with the heat.

Overheating is really bad

They will do well in much cooler temps than you think.

I have a 2 week old Mystery chick (I think she's an Ancona) that has an identical growth in the same region.
If it's the preen gland (uropygial gland), then they all have it. It's normal.
