I had a 14 month old leghorn pullet who passed away around 1 1/2 months ago. One day she appeared to have an injured leg. She limped when she walked otherwise everything else was normal. The next couple of days after that she got worse. She couldn't walk at all, was breathing through her beak and had one eye constantly closed. She began to eat and drink less and less until eventually she stopped drinking willfully and ate half as much as she used to. I gave her water through a syringe. If I tried to make her stand, she would fall backward, forward or sideways. I bought infant multivitamin and started using it. She was getting better. She ate more, started to drink willfully, started breathing through her nostrils again but she still couldn't walk and still had one eye closed. One day I placed food in front of her. She ate all the food I had gave her and apeared to be choking. She died a minute later right in front of me. Any help on diagnosing her illness will be appreciated.
