Hey all. So, I know my girl when she's broody. Her poops are giant and it's just a few days to break her if it. She otherwise has the symptoms. She'll eat if I pick her up and put her by her food, same with drinking. But she sits all day, he feathers are ruffled when she is moved. She doesn't seem necessarily lethargic. If I take her outside she'll dust bathe and eat grass. She doesn't appear egg bound. This has been going on almost a week. Waiting on a call back from a vet. Has anyone here encountered this? She's mostly just sitting and ruffled all day

She could either have become more persistently broody or she is unwell.

As hens age, hormones can get out of wack which can create a perpetual brood. It can also indicate female issues or internal problems.

Hopefully she is just being stubbornly broody this time, but if you know her behaviors and this is a change, then something has changed with her.

You can try increasing her calcium, de-worming her, treating her for external parasites, and even for coccidiosis.

Being anemic from any of those conditions can produce a false brood behavior by making a hen lethargic but still able to respond when prompted.

My thoughts.
