Not developing tail feathers?

Chicks are a new adventure for us, these are our first! we got 4 silver laced wyandotes, and 2 we were told were auracanas. they are about 2 weeks old, and everyone is developing tail feathers but one. It is also one of the larger chicks. Everyone is eating, drinking, pooing just fine. Should we be concerned, or does this mean it's a roo? As soon as I can, I will get some pictures up. Thanks!

i would think it may be a roo, mine have done that- develop them slower

aren't auracanas supposed to be tailless? maybe you got the real thing.

Auracanas don't have tails!

What you probably have are EE's or Easter Eggers. Did you get your chicks from a hatchery? Alot of people call them arucanas or ameraucans but there is a difference. I too have a few EE's and one didnt have a tail. I thought, what in the world! I found out that some of the EE's have the arucana gene in them and you will get a tailless one once in awhile.

Being tailless has nothing to do with being male or female. This is a picture of my tailless pullet. We are so proud of her and she is so neat to look at. Hopefully she will give me a blue egg.

Her coloring is so cool. Kinda blue/gray and orange.

The one that isn't developing a tail is supposed to be one of the wyandotes. I figured we probably got ee's. They have tufts on their cheeks, and they do have tails. I need to get my hubby's camera. Mine isn't working.

l would not worry some are slow feathering when dealing with heritage breeds like wyandottes. It will come in it will just be later than the others. It could be a male or just have the slow feather gene.
