I have a young buckeye hen under the weather. She has the symptoms of egg binding, but a physical exam does not find an egg. She has watery droppings now and a dirty butt. Last night I gave her a warm sit in water and kept her indoors and good and warm over night. Unsure of age, but at least 7 months. Don't know if she has layed eggs yet either. She seems to be almost rhythmically pushing as if to lay an egg, but with no results. She is eating, drinking, and frisky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. She is from the preservation bloodline at ALBC and I would hate to lose her. The is the second sick buckeye I have had this year. The other not preservation stock. Egg bound and I learned anatomy on her carcass. Thanks, Carol

She might be gearing up to start laying. If she is such a valuable bird then she should see a vet.

    Good luck.
