Hi I have just been reading the how many eggs a day post and am a little concerned. My girls have been with me 14 days now and I was told they needed about 10 days to settle in then should be good layers.

I have 2 warrens, a silkie, a bantum leghorn and 2 miscellaneous booted type bantums. Since they arrived 14 days ago I have had 1 speckledy egg, 1 white egg (that got smashed in the coup), and 9 creamy brown eggs that I think have all come off one girl.

The farmer said that the 2 warrens and the leghorn were all prolific layers and that the other 3 were all at the age to lay- as he ordered them for me.

They get layers pellets (I have been advised a handfull each in the morning and half handful each at night and to leave a trough with pellets in in the house)

Not tried any apple cider vinegar yet, and they have also had 1 bowl of muselli and a bowl of mashed veg, and the kids give them a couple of meal worms each every couple of days.

Am I doing something wrong that the other warren and leghorn arent laying, and surely the silkie should start to give me one maybe even 2 a week. He said that the bantams were 24-26 weeks and ready to lay but I have my doubts on their age (pics on what breed and age am I)

Maybe I am just been impatient but all advice gratefully recieved (I am after all as new to this as the 14 days I ahve had my girl , and all my pre reading doesnt seem to have counted for a thing!!)

Maybe they just need more time to settle in. I'm sure all will be fine once they are completely comfortable in their new home. Oh, and you will get more than a couple eggs a week from your silkie. Mine lay pretty much every day unless they are broody....which happens VERY often!!
