Not laying in nest

My girls wont lay in there nest box ive but fake eggs in there they just lay in the coop so i put the same bedding as the coop still no eggs in nests just in coop

What kind of fake eggs? are they the same color as your girls lay. My girls are all brown egg layers so I use wooden eggs that are unpainted. I would keep showing them the nest boxes with the fake eggs. i keep the fake eggs in there 24/7. Could you post a pic of your nest boxes?

They are 5 gallon nest boxes the girls are preaty old they have 3 to 9 more seasons left abd idk how to post pictures

If they are young it may take them a while to get the hang of it. Our girls are about 9 months old now and we still have one who lays on top of the nest boxes at least twice a week. That's a big improvement from what we went through went they began laying: eggs dropped from the roost and smashed on the poop board, eggs all over the coop, eggs in the run and the all time winner - a egg in the water bowl (honest!). Comment about fake "eggs" - our girls never did get into those golf balls and totally avoided the nests that had gold balls in them so we gave up on that trick. Good luck!
