So my girls had a good winter, laying usually 2 eggs a day. I live in Ontario so our winters are very cold. When the weather warmed up they were laying 3-4 eggs a day. Now they consistently lay 2 a day. I have 5 Plymouth rock hens, this will be there 2nd summer. I dont understand why the eggs are less. Last year at this time they were laying 5 a day. I use the same food, same bedding, nothing has changed. I would love any advice you could offer. Thank you

Pullets all lay well through their first winter.
Temperature has very little effect on egg production. Daily light period vs. daily dark period is the biggest factor. Nutrition is extremely important as well. This time of year production should be peaking. I would look at your nutrition. What are you feeding?

I’m having this same problem but I’m Texas! We went from 44 eggs a day to 24 and it’s been rough! I’m switching their diet this week to see if that helps
