Not laying...

Tried everything just now and can't get her to eat a calcium pill....Tried dropper and she isn't thirsty...tried crushing it on a piece of lettuce and it all falls to the ground. Tried on top of yogurt(which my chickens never ate before)...Tried on a strawberry dipping it into the yogurt...nothing works. :(

For bound hens I personally use the shot. However I'm nursing a hen with wry neck now that requires pills daily. Predinsone. How I give them to her is I place my pointer finger of my left hand along side her beak and apply some pressure she opens her beak with my right hand I take the pill and quickly put it in her mouth then I take my right hand and quickly place it under her beak to close it and she swallows the pill. I do this daily. For awhile while I'm nursing her wry neck. This works for me. The bird is sitting in my lap when I do this. Don't be too forceful but do use the right amount of pressure and this method will work. I hope you understand what I'm saying here. The bird sits in your lap reach around with your left hand and put slight pressure in between the upper and lower beak this forces the beak open with your right hand put the pill in her mouth and immediately take the right hand and put it under the beak to close it then they will swallow the pill. I have been doing this for my silkie and its worked every time thank God because she needs her pills. I really hope this helps you out some. Best wishes!
