I had someone give me 2 laying hens yesterday evening, but they so far have not laid an egg ? They are on layer feed, could stress cause them to stop ? I didn't think they would today but I hope they do soon!

Stress will almost always stop ovulation. They usually take a break after a move. Layer feed won't help them lay, it replaces the calcium taken from the medullary bone to create the egg shell when they do lay.
Therefor, it is often a good idea if the birds aren't laying to give a grower or all flock feed that is only about 1% calcium.
Do you know if they were laying eggs before you got them?

Got 1 egg just now ! And they just brought me the rooster

, yes they were laying before .

Another egg! Is there anyway to get a hen to sit on her eggs? Would like to hatch some . New to this so thank you all for your help

Ok thanks! They brought 2 more hens today,a red one and what looks to be a blk star, out of the 4 hopefully 1 will go broody soon

I don't know if that's what she is,just guessing, she has black feathers with a greenish sheen/tint. I have other breeds so maybe they will once they get older

I also have a dark brahma , and 5 reds ones which I know are not RIRs cause I got them at tsc, they were called Golden something seems like but I don't remember what lol
