not laying!

I started with 6 chicks but after our 2 pekins died of maybe respitory issues and 2 others from a dog attack we are now left with 2. 1 arcana and 1 astrolorp and neither of them have layed any eggs!!! At 26 n 23 weeks of age now. What do i do?

But, so sorry about your losses. Hope you have made changes in managing your remaining 2 to protect them from predators.

At their ages the should be laying. If free ranging they may be laying anywhere. Stress can effect laying.

I would suggest you post the question under egg laying forum with detail on their coop, run, ranging or not, and how long since the loss of the fellow flock members.

Glad you joined. Since your birds are still under 6 months old, it is still a little early for them to start laying. Also if they just went through a stressful period (losing flock members) that may set them back a little.

Hi, I'm new to BYC too, you will get some great information and help from here, I know I have. I had issues with some of my girls when they first started laying and I still do. I was a little anxious waiting for them to lay but just be patient and they will surprise you one day, mine did.
