Styrofoam incubators are the hardest to use. They don't work well, the thermometers in them aren't accurate, they don't hold the right temp./humidity, the turners stink, etc.
especially for a beginner hatcher, I highly DO NOT recommend Styrofoam incubators such as the hovabator. LG incubators are awful, in my opinion. they're the worst. I recommend
Brinsea incubators. If you're doing a small hatch, I recommend the
brinsea mini advanced incubator. Very easy. the mini eco incubator is also pretty good, but you have to turn the eggs yourself and adjusting the temperature is extremely hard. I'd suck it up and pay the $50 extra bucks for the mini advanced.
Brinsea incubators tend to work well in my experience.
I'd use a really good candler and candle at day 8-10. Day 3 you won't see much. maybe some veins, but only with close observation. at day 8, candle them all, and you can surley tell an infertile, clear egg from a developing fertile one.
What incubator are you using currently? If it's Styrofoam, there's your problem. Beginner egg mommy + Styrofoam = not always the most successful hatch. But hey, anything can happen! give the eggs another week, and you'll be surprised!
always remember to keep the humidity at the right place, and the temperature at 99.5 for fan-assisted incubators and 100.5 for still-air. [err, i think it's 100,5 for still air, i haven't really used those before..]
