I have 10 silkie, frizzle and bantam eggs. I have been canceling them and they were all moving and I could see the veins. I put the incubator at lock down on day 17 because I heard bantams hatch early. I haven’t seen movement of any piping. It is day 21 today. What should I do?

I would just be patient. They are technically not late yet. I've never noticed a difference in hatching time between bantam and large fowl eggs. My last 3 batches where mixed sizes and they all hatched together. I'd just wait at least another day before worrying to much.

I don’t know anything much about Bantams in particular but there are things that can slow down (temps slightly low) or speed up (higher temps) incubation. There are also things that can go wrong even if you’ve done everything right, and there are common errors people may make because they’ve had bad or not enough information or simply because it’s been challenging to keep the conditions just so. Too much humidity during incubation is a common one.

It’s still early though and if you’re not moving them around it can be hard to see pips. You may pick them up and examine them more closely if you like. I would if it were me, but it is a bit of a risk, I’m told. People do get the time wrong—it can be confusing because various timers and apps do the counting in their own ways—count down, count up, start when you set, start at the end of the first day. All in all, don’t start worrying yet. It may work out well, but even if it doesn’t, you can give it another try.

Don't do anything...just wait.

Do you have a calibrated thermometer in your incubator?
What's your humidity level at?
What has your humidity level been throughout the first 17 days?
