Good Mernin Everyone
New fella in home room class!
Ducks are laying eggs like crazy-not nesting though during the day. When the sun comes up they go out and play-all day.
What’s up with that? I read they nested up to 23 hours a day. Not these ducks!

:welcome What do you mean by 'nesting'? If you mean incubating the eggs, not all breeds will go broody. Those that will, do not do so until they have laid a clutch of eggs.
That is what I mean. Thank you. We have 7 diff. breeds. They have 3 clutches in the duck house of 10/15 eggs and two nests out by the pond of what looks like 9/12 in each. I’m learning as I go. First year raising/owning ducks so.

:welcomeWhat a lovely flock. I'd be very concerned about the nests at the pond. If mine those would be taken up and the nest destroyed. Letting one sit out like that is just inviting a predator by for dinner.
I have Muscovy who you can hardly get them not to brood, then again I have Runners and Buffs who are from 2 yrs to 5 years and have never even given brooding a thought that I can tell. If there are eggs in the coop that are over 10 days old they should be removed. fertility is starting to go way down. If your hoping for a broody start marking your eggs. You can use a sharpie and put the date so you can take out the old ones.
