Hi All! I've been on the site for years, but never properly introduced myself!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I first got into chickens about 5 years ago
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 6 hens right now, but I would like 2-3 more standard or 4-5 bantams!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have/have had (**cracks knuckles) Lavender Orpingtons, Buff Orpington, SLW, BLRW, Buff Brahma, Cream Legbar, White French Marans, Jubilee Orpington
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Chicken TV, pest (garden spider
) control, the joy it brings to backyard guests, the high honor it is when a chicken jumps in your lap for snuggles.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I jump horses, ice skate, breed Holland Lops, attempt homesteading (always a growing adventure), knit, & sew (poorly).
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have a dog other than the chickens and bunnies. I would rather not get too detailed for privacy's sake, but I am a professor.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC years ago when we began our homesteading adventure! The help, articles, and advice was wonderful!
