Welcome back to BYC, Alissa. Don't feel guiltily for keeping them safe, you are doing the responsible thing. I recently lost one of mine to a raccoon, while I was outdoors with them. Now mine are locked up for eternity. Its been hard keeping them entertained since they are used to freedom, but I think the guilt of loosing one to a preventable attack is much worse.
