Not so new

I skipped this part a few years ago, I keep getting reminded so here I am.

Due to coyote predation, I'm starting with new chicks again. I have 10- 5 week old chicks in a brooder in their Wood's open air coop, and 6- 1 week old in a baby basinet in the crawl space.

This time the free range is going to be limited to 100' fenced area around the coop hopefully that will keep them safer.

Living in a rural area surrounded by woods does have it's dangers for chickens roaming about.

I completely understand about the predators. I live on the edge of a valley with tons of trees, so there are lots of animals coming to check out my chickens.

Consider hot wires around your fence. It is an excellent deterrent to large predators.
