Not so smug about my roosters any more

Look at how red Kellogg's legs are! He's got all those fighting hormones running through his veins. I just had the same thing happen.

This is Edward our Partridge Rock that hatched this past Spring. He was happy go lucky until about 2 weeks ago when he attacked our old roo.

This is Henry, our older roo. He was head honcho until Edward ripped his comb in half........then he spent the rest of the day hiding under our front porch. Edward spent the night in the pet carrier that night and I re-homed him the very next day.

roosters will always fight. they are one of the few creatures GOD created with a natural weapon -as in the spur- that its only use is for fighting..........with that said. the better of the two won.

by the way. dont know about where you live, but here in VA you are guilty of a misdeameanor. allowing two roosters to spar. gotta love some of these ridiculous animal cruelty laws.

Well, Kellogg is staying away from Carl, now. Yesterday, he approached the main feeder whilst Carl was standing near it, and Carl chased him a good 30 feet away. Good thing I have feeders in more than one location!

Kellogg is still leading "his" ladies (all four of them) to range freely in sections of the property away from Carl. Sometime one or two of the pullets will run ahead and mingle with others, and he will call them back if Carl is anywhere in sight.

So, for the time being, Kellogg is being a smart cockerel.

I have nothing to add really,.
but they are both beautiful roo's and I know our day is coming soon when we will have to deal with the same thing,. I am hoping for the best,. but planning for the worst. Can you keep us updated on if Kellog submits or tries again when he's older,.
