I used to stick a few eggs in the old sears & roebuck incubator, keep the little pan filled with water and the temp anywhere in the "hatching range" (about 98 to 102) indicated on the thermometer that came with it. Turn the eggs twice a day and get some chicks. Never worried at all!
Now since I've been on this site I think I've spent more money on thermometers, hygrometers, and water wigglers than I have on my incubator.
Now I'm at day 20 and nervous as a cat on a too small limb hanging over a puddle of water
I had a web cam set up on a local network that worked perfectly until I emailed the link to some friends, family, and school teachers. Now the server has decided it doesn't like the camera. Set up a different computer with the same camera and software---It wouldn't work for more than a few minutes at a time
My 3 year old granddaughter called me yesterday morning and said, "Grandpa, I can't see your chicky eggs!"
I didn't want to change to one of the online webcam sites because I had already given a different url to everybody so I spent a couple of late nights trying different software and I think I've finally got one that seems stable.
