but could someone tell me I'm not going crazy........
I haven't had a rooster for over 30 days, my 2 japanese bantam hens went broody about a week after the rooster left, and 3 days ago they showed up with 4 chicks..................
Now I live in the city so they are always in the coop, and there are no other roosters around..............Is it normal for them to do this? Can they lay fertile eggs that long after the rooster is gone? And before you ask, I only have the 2 hens in that coop. I'm confused...............

Well, it takes 21 days to incubate. So, that would only be about a week after the roo was gone, right? And, the hens may have been "collecting," eggs for a few days before that. Oh yeah, that is quite likely.
