It's not just feed stores, anyone who got something from a hatchery.... And didn't tell you when you buy from them. We got some Dominiques locally that all had rose combs, but some of their offspring have single combs.

That should be illegal . . . unethical at the very least.
My biggest pet peeve is when I see them mark eater eggers, americana or araucana. It is just annoying. Evedrytime I see it I want to go over to the sign with a permant marker and write EASTER EGGERS in all caps. I mean really what to do people getout of making people think they are buying something they arent. I think that if I did that I would get kicked out and who knowswhat else lol. Istill buy the 'americanas' when I want some eastereggers. And then I see people say oooo look at the americanas, and I so babdly want to tell them but then they will think i am an idiot or a know it all. And that is absolutley terrible!11 chicks and not one breed was correct, it is pathetic in my opinion.O an just a little funny story. At my feed store you are suppose to let the workers grab the chicks you want. And I just grab a box and do it myself lol. They havent said anything and I do this every year I buy chicks. It must not bother them lol. The only reason I do that is because I like to pick out each chick not just randomly grab them, I dont know why.Feed stores are notorious for not knowing what the heck they're selling. I've gotten 11 different chick breeds from feed stores and not a single one is what they said they were.
On ccragslist I see these people post americana(the easter egg chicken) for sale all the time. It is not because they dont know what they have, these specific people know exactly what they have, but label it wrong. And these people charge outrages amounts in my opinion for there 1 or 2 week old chicks. Sorry I am not going to pay 6 or 7 dollars for anEE 9although I love EEs) I know multiple sources where I could buy purebreed chicken for the same price. And I know other people I could get EEs way cheaper. If they looked like dominiques they could of been DomXBR. Which they still shouldnt call them dominiques if they are mixed and if there offspring has difeerent combs then it is obivous that they arent purebreeds. It's not just feed stores, anyone who got something from a hatchery....
