Not sure what breeds I have, Please help!

The dark one does have some fethers but not very many at all. What is an EE? all our chickens lay brown eggs and they are small, not sure if that helps.

EE, mutt hen (not a brahma cross, because she has a straight comb), and some sort of mutt.... could be Marans, like Illia said, but he looks pretty "squat" to me.

An EE is an 'Easter Egger' - a mixed breed chicken who often (but not always) lays green or pink or blue eggs. They're often called 'Araucana' or 'Ameraucana' by hatcheries, but those are purebreeds. Easter Eggers are usually descended from one of those breeds, but they're hardly ever pure.

Don't worry. You'll get used to all of the funny nicknames and shortcuts we give things - and before you know it, you'll be using them, too!

And since I haven't said so before -

I am breed illiterate, but I have quite a few black hens with red through the head like that first one...I always thought they were black sex-links. How did you determine that one to be EE, rather than BSL?

She's got a sort of "muff" or "beard" under her beak. That's one of the characteristics of the stock that sometimes provides the blue egg gene. Also, does she have a straight comb or a pea comb? The pea comb is another EE characteristic.

Can EE lay just brown eggs? I haven't gotten any colored eggs from any of them. Also, what is a "comb"? Thanks for all the replies!

Some EE's lay brown eggs, but not all. Brown eggs are a sort of byproduct . . . Naturally an EE is supposed to lay blue or green, but one can lay brown as a result of crossing green x green.

A comb is the red thing between their eyes. On males it is larger.
