Hello, i had one of my hens a couple days ago pass away. she was fine when all went to bed. the next morning i went to let them out. she was on the roost with her eyes shut and her head hanging down. i went in the house to prepare her a area to bring her in cause i could tell she was very sick. i got her down and clear liquid started running out of mouth. i could feel her crop was full and hard. within about 5 minutes she was gone. Im thinking compacted crop?? would they die that fast. she was almost 2 years. old

Crop problems can be common and if long-standing may result in dehydration, starvation, and eventual death. But crop problems which can be caused by an impacted crop, may also be a result of other problems, such as reproductive disorders. Anything that can cause pressure on abdominal organs may slow down digestion, and contribute to a crop slowdown. When handling a chicken with a full crop, avoid squeezing the crop, since that may cause vomiting and choking. It is best to get a necropsy by the state poultry vet to learn why your chicken died. To do that, the body should be kept cool, not frozen and taken or shipped overnight to the state poultry lab. Sorry for your loss.
