I've just discovered a baby under my broody hen. (sooooo cute!!!) I set these under her when she first went broody because the other broody hen left the nest, so I just put them under the other momma. I'm thinking of taking the baby out and putting her in the house since the hen will be on the rest of the eggs for another week or so. Does this sound right? This is the first time I have had eggs hatch under a broody, so as amazing and cute as it is, I'm also worried about the safety of the baby. There are 8 other eggs under the hen, 2 more with earlier hatch dates and the rest will hatch in a week or so. ANy help is appreciated!

Oh wow, I never would've thought about that, does it work? Do they get un-broody?? I will separate the baby, I don't want it getting hurt! Thanks for the reply.

Okay....I think I'm going to wait until dark. The baby is so snug under momma's wing and she is not happy about me sticking my nose in there! But, using your theory, she might leave the nest now since she has a baby....hmmm... I didn't think about that one!
