MagPie is 1.5 years old and started what I thought was a molt a long time ago...late winter early spring. She only appears to have feather loss at the base of her neck right near the top of her wings. If I lift up her wings I can see what appears to be small feathers that seem to be broken off. Her comb is pale and has been since I noticed the feathers. I haven't noticed her losing any additional feathers. She also eats and drinks fine and free ranges with the others but just stays away from the flock. She was the dominant bird last fall so I'm not sure what changed that. She also has recently stopped roosting and is either in the nest box or in front of the nest box to sleep. I don't see any evidence of bugs on her or the rest of the 9 chickens she coops with. She does seem on the thin side but she eats all the time. Not sure what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Can you post a few pics of her?

What do you feed your flock?

Do you have a rooster?

Have you ever wormed your flock?
and
Did you check them at nighttime with a flashlight for bugs?

I will get a couple pics and try to post. They get Poulin Layer Feed, Poulin Scratch and lots of yogurt, grapes, oats, etc. They eat well. I do not have a rooster and no, I have never wormed my flock. How do I know if they need to be wormed? Haven't checked them at nighttime but I will tonight. I have had guineas for many years and never had to worm them. My girls free range when we are home and are in the run/ coop when we are away. I did introduce 4 new chickens in June but they came from a good friend of mine who takes excellent care of his chickens and guineas. I appreciate your response!

Read through this and pay attention to how it state that feeding too many treats is just not good.

Collecting some fresh poop and running it to the nearest vet's office for a fecal test is the best way to rule out worms. 99% of the time you won't ever actually see worms until they are extremely infested with them.
