I just read how to tell if an egg is good or not but what if the egg/s have started to develop? If they have started to develop will they float? Thanks, Sylvia

Maybe I needed to be more descriptive when I wrote this?

Sometimes eggs will get missed and I won't know if a hen has been sitting on them unless I catch a broody sitting on them but sometimes when many hens are laying in the same spot, couldn't it stimulate the eggs to start developing?

I have found eggs that seem to have been long buried under the hay and I don't know why they don't float. Therefore, I wondered if eggs that had started to develop will or won't float? Does anyone have a point of view

I don't think they would float, old eggs float cause they've lost moisture so the air sack is big. I *believe* it takes eggs 24 hours at the right temperature to start developing. You could always try candling, but it doesn't work so well if they are just barely starting to develop.
If in doubt, I'd say crack eggs in separate bowls.

I run a hatch to see how things are going. And if I am using eggs for eating, I will see the tell tale white in the yolk.
