Common to sleep on the ground if they aren't sure about the roosts, or have never used any before.

(Assuming that they can fly and that the roosts are comfortable)
You can choose to let them take time learning to use the roosts, or at night place them on the roosts.

What sux about my coop, is that there is only one way to get in there. The roost is right next to the door, and there is not all that much room for me and birds at the same time. I'm going have to think about somehow, adding a walk thru door inside the run.
