I also put sand under the coop. That's where they hangout. They love it under there. My feed area is outside, no feeding inside. So inside the coop is the roost and nest boxes. I find them back in the coop during the day playing in the sand.

I am fairly new to keeping chickens. Is there a particular kind of sand that you use for inside the coup?
