I would not use sawdust as it's too dusty. Nor would I use coarse chippings as they would be too sharp. Screened shavings are best.If I was to go for bedding - would oak sawdust/chippings be okay to try it out ? I would have to fork it up a bit first to get rid of obvious dust. It’s just that I have masses from hubbies play room, sorry workshop![]()

. I use hemp bedding on the poop board about an inch deep what they scatter on the floor I leave, so we have gathered a layer on the floor about 4 inch deep over the last 5 years. They only go into the coop to lay and sleep so not a lot of mess to clean up. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
