I have a pullet who have been pretty active every day, recently on Tuesday she was acting strange in the morning, when she came out of the coop she sit on the roost outside and just sit there, she jump off just to drink. She didn’t lay an egg since Sunday ( normal egg ) Monday she laid a soft egg. Then nothing till today and it’s Friday. She perks up and act normal in the afternoon, eats, drinks, poops fine, free range, scratches, runs with other hens. No issues. Then in the morning same situation, alone, sits or stands, walk around for a bit but then goes into a corner and sits alone. On Monday we re homes our rooster, he was walking with her mostly all of the time ( also mate with her several times a day, which I was chasing him off her cause of the size of the rooster and size of her , he was too big and it was always same hen) I didn’t want him to do this to one hen. We re homed him and ever since this behavior happened. Anything to do with removing the rooster from the flock ???? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I don't think it has anything to do with the rooster. She just probably needs to lay a egg. I once had a hen who was laying soft eggs for quite a while but now she's one of my best layers. Mine just worked itself out. She'll probably be fine.

How old is she? If she's new occasionally they'll have an issue.

Also what do you feed?

The rooster won't hurt the hen. I have some pretty big boys that breed smaller hens without hurting them.

She just did go to the nesting box, I just thought she might feel lonely since she was always walking beside the rooster and hanging out with him. Lets hope she will be ok, I gave her bit more calcium and she did drink water as well.

She is 23 weeks old, she gets purina layer feed and she gets the greens 🥬 in the afternoon.. she have access to scratch grain as well

I'd switch from layer to an all flock since you have a rooster, the extra calcium will cause long term kidney damage. You'll have to keep out separate feeder of oyster shells for the ladies.

Give greens occasionally as a treat, like scratch. No more then once, or twice every other week at most.

I don't think she's getting the optimum nutrition from the extras being offered.

They are getting green every day twice a day just a hand full of lettuce 🥬 kale , sometimes, some tomatoes .., never had issues and no we don’t have a rooster anymore we send him off to the farm and she started to act this way after rooster left

But they also eat their food as well

Too much treats too often.

Oh, okay. The way you wrote your post made it sound like you still had a rooster.
